30 Chic Days at Home - Day 29 - Be Different To Everyone Else
I've always loved being different to others, starting right back in high school when I didn't want to wear what the trendy girls were wearing. I made my own clothes and chose to be inspired by London street style rather than what the local stores were selling.
It continues to this day, just in different areas, and today's post is to encourage you to be different to others during the lockdown.
Instead of complaining about the inconvenience, being bored, wanting to meet up with people and spending time being worried and scared,
Why not:
- Be thankful for your health and your circumstances?
- Make the most of the time and learn something new?
- Be positive and a breath of fresh air when you speak to people?
- Take this opportunity to do things differently than you normally do?
- Think long-term (your five-year plan) rather than short-term ('when will we get out of lock-down?')
Be unexpected, talk about things other than the virus, ask people questions about their dreams and read inspiring books.
One of my favourite concepts is that you can live in the real world but not be 'of' the real world. You can live here at this present time and create magic in your mind. Mix both together. Practical plus inspirational.
If you were to do something differently right now, what would it be?
xx Fiona

I love this. This idea has helped me in more than one phase of my life. It's like having a secret or a superpower. I have all of your books and they too have been very helpful, not just during a pandemic :) Wishing you the best.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I love that it's a superpower :)
DeleteGreat suggestions! And timely for me as our Stay at Home order was just extended for another month (which is very appropriate but a bit daunting).
ReplyDeleteWow, another month! Take care, Juhli!
DeleteThis is a wonderful post and so inspiring. Just last week I decided to stop worrying and complaining about being quarantined and just make the best of it. And guess what- I'm finding ways to bring more joy into my life. I am experimenting with recipes, planting a garden, re-reading old classic books, learning French. I have discovered it's a perfect time to explore, plan, dream.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Dana! Explore, plan, dream - perfect :)
DeleteOh Fiona, I love this! You can live in the real world, but not be of the real world. I often scold myself for creating a sort of fantasy life for myself, but why should we fit in with what the rest of the world expects of us? Why can't we write our own script.
ReplyDeleteI've also recently returned to dressmaking. I love dressmaking and knitting. I take inspiration from luxurious brands that are out of my budget and make myself and my little girl pretty frocks and tops.
Stay safe you wonderfully chic lady. xx
