Starting the year, quiet yoga, loving rain, finding love...

Chloe relaxing in comfort :)

Happy January chic friends!

‘It’s never too late to start your day...’ I can’t find who first said this and I don’t even know if I have it right, but I do know that it’s a great comfort when I get myself all wound up into knots. I have a tendency to overthink things and my busy mind says Stop! Too much!

Over the holiday break I have been working on slowing my mind down. Also thinking how I want to shape this year. Definitely writing and sharing my current inspiration but taking time out to ensure I’m heading in the right direction.

It’s exciting that we are in a new decade and I love the thing I’ve been seeing around the place, that this year is 2020 for 2020 vision. So perfect. We are all perfecting our vision of what we want to be.

Does it feel like that for you too?

Each week a garden-fresh arrangement at yoga

I went to my favourite yoga class this week. It’s called yin yoga officially but I refer to it as quiet yoga. The room is dimmed, relaxing spa music is playing and it’s a soothing one-hour-fifteen of long stretches.

There was a cool light misty rain and it just felt so cosy and comforting to be heading to a quiet yoga class. I said as such to the teacher and she said, ‘You’re a pluviophile too!’ Apparently a pluviophile is ‘a lover of rain, someone who finds joy and peace of mind during rainy days’. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

Pictured is the floral arrangement in the changing room that changes each week depending on what’s in the garden. Beautiful.

So, are YOU a pluviophile too?

Paul and me

This is the love of my life. I met Paul when I was 32, and he has made my life better for the past 17 years. There’s no special occasion for this post, it’s not our wedding anniversary for another couple of months. I just believe in being in the moment rather than waiting for a specific day to show love and appreciation. Every day is the special occasion!

I am so grateful I bumped into someone so perfect for me one night down at the pub (right down to the same birthday). If I wrote our story into a book you wouldn’t believe me.

Hmmm, now that’s an idea. I always thought I’d write a novel and here I am writing non-fiction. But maybe one day?

Tell me your love story, please! I adore hearing romantic tales. And who knows, you might just give me ideas for my first fiction book :)

xx Fiona

PS. Thirty More Chic Days is my most recent book and, I think, my best book to date.  I've been giving myself fresh ideas for the new year by re-reading chapters. If you already have this book, I invite you to pick a chapter and see what feels crisp and new for you to bring into your life, and if you haven't, why not download the free sample to read the first three chapters. Perfect with a cup of tea.

You can read Thirty More Chic Days here.
