How I infuse elegance into my casual lifestyle
Do you love the concept of an elegant life, but sometimes feel like a fraud because you prefer to dress casually and live a laid-back lifestyle? Me too! I'd almost go so far as to say that I go beyond laid-back to lazy... but I'll reframe that as 'efficient' to speak positively :)
In today's podcast I talk about how I bring elegance into my casual lifestyle and also how I reconcile my lofty and elegant daydreams with everyday reality. It was a fun topic to talk about.
I haven't done an audio track for ages and I really enjoyed it. Please let me know what you think, and I'd also keen to know if you prefer to read posts, watch videos or listen to audios. I'll probably mix up all three on my posts, but I'm just nosy to hear your preference.
You can listen to the podcast right here on the post, or download it to your device with the little downwards arrow on the image above.
I hope you enjoy the podcast and can I just say it was nice talking to you!
~Fiona~
PS. I was interviewed recently by the lovely Michelle Marie McGrath for her podcast 'Unclassified Women', which is all about women who don't have children whether through circumstance or choice. I talk about my own situation and why I don't have children, plus a bit about my career as a write-from-home author with tips on how you can start too.
You can listen on YouTube and iTunes through Michelle's link here. I had such a lovely time chatting with Michelle, so I really hope you enjoy this interview!
It's delightful to listen to you--it gives the impression of having a girlfriend in the room for a chat. And you have a lovely voice. On the other hand, I like to read. It's more discreet--listening requires putting on headphones--and faster (I feel like I can stop working for a few minutes of enjoyment, but I can't justify half an hour). Your posts are so positive and uplifting. A real delight.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your feedback :) I know what you mean about reading. I love to put on a podcast with bluetooth headphones as I'm washing the dishes or hanging the washing out. (My bluetooth headphones are tiny ones that loop around the back of my head - $6 from Aliexpress!)
DeleteHi Fiona, I am partially deaf and wear two hearing aids, I always use the subtitles on the TV or Dvd etc. Videos and podcasts are not much use to me unless they have subtitles added, which is a shame as I'd love to hear your thoughts on this subject. Any chance of a transcript?
ReplyDeleteHello, I will definitely look into that. Thank you :)
DeleteI really enjoyed listening to your podcast. It made a change from reading and it was lovely to feel that you were talking to me as a friend. I would be happy for you to do an occasional podcast in the future. Karen in Spain
ReplyDeleteThank you, Karen!
DeleteI recommend both. Given the opportunity, I listen to the podcast and read along. Whatever you decide, always a pleasure to learn your thoughts.

Loved the podcast. I like the blog posts too, but really enjoyed the audio and maybe preferred it because it seemed more intimate. It was so inspiring to hear about your experience in your own words, from self-publishing to dealing with not having kids. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWonderful podcast, Fiona. Something that helps me feel a little elegant is to wear earrings, no matter my outfit, or whether or not I’m doing routine household chores. It just makes me feel a little more polished.
ReplyDeleteFab podcast really enjoyed listening. My dogs all ran outside and barked when Daphne barked in your podcast :) My way of making myself feel elegant is to make a tea in one of my pretty tea cups and have a lunch made of fresh salad making it as colourful as possible heritage tomatoes, peppers etc as you would have in a restaurant it makes me feel happy. Going to find that foundation website now as I'm a big wearer of doublewear and could do with something lighter. Thanks again for a informative podcast. x
ReplyDeleteI prefer reading your blog over podcasts. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Fiona, I like all of it: reading your posts and listening and watching video. I guess my favorite would be videos. My favorite was your makeup video a while back. How about a skincare routine video in the future? :)
ReplyDeleteD.
I enjoy videos and podcasts the best also. I listened to the podcast as I was putting on my makeup this morning getting ready for work. It was nice. I'm curious also whether you have gone back to being an elegant non-drinker or are you still enjoying a glass of wine with elegance? The prospect intrigues me that's why I ask. Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteHi Carla, I am still having wine with dinner, most nights in fact! I am happy with my decision to start drinking alcohol again, and happy to have had the experience of not drinking for five years 😊
Deleteas I don't have a computer at home and go to the library, listening isn't always an option, so I enjoy reading the info, also for me it's easier to retain the info and jot down some ideas
ReplyDeleteI love everything that you do, Fiona. And, I do think that you have 'nailed' casual elegance.
ReplyDeleteI loved your podcast. You have such a lovely soft spoken voice.
ReplyDeletelove your Kiwi accent :) I love jeans and I do think they can be elegant. Elegance is a state of mind ....I put on my makeup and spray on perfume . I love scarfs and they can make your jeans elegant and very en francais too !
ReplyDeleteMuch prefer reading a blog. That way I can just read it at my own pace and I too also retain information better that way..Cheers
ReplyDeleteI think I agree most of all with Lady Jicky, that elegance is a state of mind. I also spritz with perfume daily (often re-spritzing during the day). I also love scarves and jeans, also nail polish and lipstick. I actually prefer reading your blog, I find myself listening to your accent more than what you are actually saying! It's a charming accent, but your vowels are so different from our English vowels, that listening is more of a distraction, I listen to how you are saying things, rather than what you are saying. But a very ice podcast nonetheless, Fiona.

I meant "nice" podcast, not "ice" … sorry!
