THIRTY SLIM DAYS is here

I am so excited to let you know that ‘Thirty Slim Days: Create your slender and healthy life in a fun and enjoyable way’ is now available, in paperback and on Kindle.

You can view it on Amazon here.

If you would prefer the paperback but want to start reading straight away, Thirty Slim Days (as well as all my other books) is enrolled in the Kindle Matchbook promotion where you can receive the Kindle version at a 70% discount when you order the paperback. If you choose this option, you will be offered the Kindle version for $2.99 instead of $9.99 after you have gone through the checkout.

So what is the book Thirty Slim Days all about?

Diets address the outside world – what we are eating – but they do nothing to change the inside world – our mindset. Changing the outside world brings the novelty of something new, plus willpower works for a while; but then our mind will snap us back to what we were doing before, because the changes we made were superficial.

Sometimes one trick that had worked for a while stopped working so well for me and I found myself slipping back into old habits. So I started devising a chic toolkit of sorts that I could dip into whenever I needed the motivation.

I have so many techniques in my toolkit now, that if I fall off the wagon I can pick myself up so much quicker than I used to. As a result, my eating (and my weight) is much more stable and therefore healthier. I also have a wonderful peace of mind around food that I did not have before.

This book isn’t a typical diet book with a list of rules, to-dos and meal plans. I hope that it won’t be dry or bossy or prescriptive. My goal for this book is to be happy, inspiring, encouraging and a little bit silly at times; because when we get too serious, we stop listening.

If we can put a little bit of frivolity and inspiration into the process of becoming our ideal weight, we are more likely to follow up and get there. Why would we want to do something if it isn’t fun?

I am so excited for you, just as I am excited for myself continuing this journey. Today is a new day, a fresh new start; perfect for you to start living a life of freedom, happiness and good health.

You can read a sample on Amazon here (click on the book cover to 'Look Inside'). I can't wait for you to read it!

With all my best, Fiona

  2. I am a big fan of yours and I think I have a copy of every book you've written so far. I am so excited you wrote a book on this very subject. I bought the paperback AND the kindle copy. Thank you for writing this book! By the way, could you please write a book on writing books and making money on amazon? I'd LOVE to read that. Thank you and have a great day!

    1. Thank you Maria Therese for your lovely words :) I have had so many ladies ask me about writing books and replacing their job income that I have already started putting together all the steps I took. It is so much that I think it will be better suited to an online learning course than a book and it is definitely something I am working on. I will keep you posted!

  4. Congratulations, Fiona and how timely. I recently returned to Weight Watchers and can't wait to use your book as inspiration to stay on track. In fact I have already arranged for it on my Kindle. I also have an Amazon Echo who reads your books to me as I work in my kitchen. Love it!

    1. Yay, thank you Kristien. Good luck with WW, they taught me so much about portion sizes and opportunity cost :) I did not know that about Amazon Echo - how cool is that! I love having books read to me when I'm in the kitchen, cleaning, walking. There is so much learning and audiobook time to be had.

  5. Congratulations on your new book, Fiona! I love how you used a real-sized woman on the cover rather than a conventional, model-y one. I am personally quite petite (height and width) myself and have always disliked the "reverse" criticisms and remarks since I was a child about how I should eat more. Relatives and strangers alike take such easy liberty when you are petite and assume what they say isn't offensive. Let me tell you, I have never walked away from a meal feeling hungry! If anything, I am usually stuffed and that's the honest truth because I love eating yummy food! In fact, I consider myself a semi-foodie. I just wish people would stop their quick comments and judgements, whether you are carrying some extra weight or skinnier than most folks around you.

To me, eating well requires one to view everything in moderation. A balanced approached is the most effective and sustainable path to a healthy body weight.

    1. I can imagine how tiresome the comments must get Natalie. For some it might just be conversation but it still affects you.

    2. You're right, it becomes a conversational habit for some and/or they're just plain unaware. The thing is, no one (I hope) would dare say, "Stop eating so much, you're so fat." but there are plenty who wouldn't stop to think for a second before saying "Oh eat more, you're so skinny. Are you on a diet? Why eat so little?" No one wants to be judged based on their size and weight, skinny or not, and certainly not treated like a child who needs to be told to eat more. It's most disrespectful. You can tell when someone is complimenting you on your figure and when they are actually being passive-aggressive. Now that I'm older and more confident, depending on the person and situation, I would speak up on their "skinny so eat more" comment.

Anyway, thank you for letting me get this off my chest, Fiona. I love how you responded with empathy and just me feel acknowledged. I feel grateful to have found you! <3

    3. People do comment the other way too! I was at a group buffet dinner and I had a female my age but far skinnier than me comment on my dessert plate, literally 'Look how much you have in your bowl! How are you going to eat all that!' Other peoples rudeness knows no bounds :)

    4. Quelle horreur! That comment spoke more about the speaker than anything.

  6. As soon as I saw this, I ordered the paperback! I just love your books, could read anything you write. I don't particularly struggle with weight so much but do need encouragement to eat healthy. Again I would probably be into any book you write, I find them very comforting and uplifting! Thanks. Jen

    1. Thanks so much Jen, I really appreciate you saying that. I agree, if you're not overweight but have a weird relationship with food, people can't necessarily see that you need to change (speaking from my perspective here, not saying you have a weird relationship with food!)

  7. Fiona, I am in the process of reading your book and it is FANTASTIC and just what I was hoping for - simple, reasonable steps other women can do to achieve better health, happiness, and lose some weight too. I feel like you and I are alike in a lot of ways. I too, am a homebody and prefer to be home, but right now being in debt it is not possible. I have to work at an outside job. I've always wanted to be a writer. My dream is to be able to stay home and earn money for the family (it's just my husband and me) by writing books. That's why I'd LOVE to learn from you just how to do that. By the way, are all your books in print? Thank you so much, Fiona! Hope you will continue writing and be able to share more! Have a great day and talk to you soon! So happy I bought your book! :)

    1. Maria Therese, I am so thrilled that you are enjoying my book, that makes me really happy.

You might be in debt now, but that won't always be the case. Look forward to the day when you can be at home instead of working, when you feel tempted to spend needlessly. In my 'Financially Chic' book, I go into detail about how we were able to pay off our home quickly (in 4.5 years since its purchase) so that we had more choices and I could be a writer who worked from home instead of a part-time writer/full-time employee. We cut out a ton of spending but we still had a lot of fun.

Yes, all my books are in print, there are five of them now I think.

Thanks again for your lovely comment, full of joie de vivre :)
