The End

I started this blog nearly two years ago as an addition to the blogs I read. Some that I really enjoyed had shut down and others had changed direction, as is natural. I thought to myself ‘what if I wrote a blog I would like to read’. So I did.

As time goes on though, life becomes busier and I now have a wish to spend less time in front of the computer and more time doing what I love.

Believe it or not, what I most enjoy is privacy and anonymity. I like spending time by myself. I am not on Twitter or Facebook or anything else other than this blog. So I think this next step will be good for me.

I really appreciate those of you that have read my blog and also comments you have left. I have learnt lots and made many new friends.

Merci, au revoir and be chic.

Fiona

  5. I am a long time reader and first time commentator... I have to tell you that I have always loved your blog and am so sad to see you finish. Thank you for the happy reading and I hope you enjoy a trip to Paris in your future. I did think of you when I visited Paris in October and made a wish that you would find your self there. Good luck and enjoy your life.

    With warm wishes,

  13. Precisely why I quit my blog, too, Fiona -- though a friend has me doing guest posts while she's writing a book, but somehow it's just not the same sort of pressure as having a blog of my own.

I have loved your blog, and printed every single day of 30 Days of Chic for my style book. You'll not be forgotten. :)

I'm glad, actually, that you're choosing to live your life offline. I hope it's a wonderful one, and maybe I'll see you around in the comments area of other blogs from time to time.

    My best to you,
    Marsi

  15. Fiona, I will miss your sweet serenity. But I absolutely understand your wish for a peaceful life. I have, in retirement in the country, allowed most of my time to walk our lovely hills, garden, cook, read and enjoy life with my love. thank you for your thoughts over these years.

  16. Oh, oh, OOOH! I will MISS you but I totally understand. You have a great voice, wonderful writing ability and a gentle soul. Enjoy, savor, the life you have carved for yourself and your family.

  17. I don't comment often, but I've enjoyed reading your blog. And I totally understand, as I just closed down my own blog this week. I still keep thinking of blog posts, but then I think about the time it would take to write them, upload pictures, etc. Blogging is an incredible way to connect-- I've met like-minded people whom I wouldn't have met otherwise. But sometimes you just have to make those difficult choices about where your time and energy is going to be spent.

  18. Fiona-I love you even more for being true to yourself. Obviously I don't write on my blog that much because I struggle with the same things. It's funny that as bloggers we question whether just living our life is enough. It is enough! I wish you all the best in your continuing adventures. Your blog-friend Jennifer

  38. Dear Fiona, I'm incredibly sad that you are leaving blogging. We need more of your kind on the internet. I also am a first time commentor, but felt compelled to tell you how much you inspire me. Your blog is the first I go to. You've reinforced the fact that I don't need to spend an exorbitant amount of money on an article of clothing to be chic or elegant, but having my finances in order and simple, quality living brings peace of mind. May you find pleasure in your life always!

  39. I will miss your wonderful blog, Fiona, but I understand completely. 45. Hello Fiona, your fresh, fun and inspiring blog will truly be missed. As I do not have facebook or use twitter I do enjoy the blog world and yours stands amongst the very best. I discovered blogs only a few months ago (I did know what they were lol); but started reading them as a way to distract me after learning of my fathers cancer diagnosis. It may sound odd but it has been theraputic for me on a different level, and although I am still sad, I am dealing with things alot better. Thank you for that.
I wish you the very best, and will keep an eye out for you should you change your mind. Rita

I am so grateful for the opportunity to know you.
I am getting to know myself better with your help.

I am sad to see 'The End' of your blog. I have been reading How To Be Chic since last year, and this is my first comment. Your posts will be greatly missed by me and by many others.

Your blog is such a treasure. I wish that you might change your mind about closing it down entirely and perhaps update occasionally. And I certainly hope that you will not delete the blog--I so enjoy stopping by here and reading and feeling inspired! I do thank you for sharing and for the inspiration!

  64. Fiona, I am going to miss you. Your comment that you wrote the blog you wanted to read resonated so strongly with me because, with your departure, I am left bereft of the blog I wanted to read. I may have to stop being lazy and write my own. I just don't think I can replicate your positive outlook and peaceful world. And I was so looking forward to seeing how your garden developed. I will have to imagine it.

All the happiness in the world to you and lovely Jessica. Stay chic!
