16th Day in a Chic September
For the month of September I plan to document daily steps I have taken towards a chic, elegant and healthy life. My goal is to keep uppermost in my mind the kind of life I want to live. I will be focusing on all the small things I do each day that lead me towards my goal, rather than away from it.
Here are today’s mini-chic accomplishments:
Went for an errand walk combined with an exercise walk. I wore my normal outfit and put on a pair of comfortable walking shoes. I was gone for at least three hours, and while maybe 20 minutes was spent sitting down having lunch, the rest of the time I was on my feet. It was a very pleasant and relaxing way to burn calories.

Managed to steer myself away from the unchic sweet snacks I had been planning on buying. After lunch I look for something sweet to finish my meal off. This was making me think of bars of chocolate and bags of lollies. Sometimes no matter how much you don’t want to eat these things, you find yourself buying and eating them anyway (or at least I do).
If I knew the answer to killing cravings I would be a rich woman. But before I got around to buying unchic sweet snacks I passed McDonalds and bought a soft-serve cone with a small Flake chocolate bar in it. They are $1 and kid-sized. It was delicious and et voila, I no longer wanted to go shopping for junque.
There are not many times I advocate visiting McDonalds in search of chicness, but it worked a treat for me today.
--
Back at work I washed and sliced an apple and a nectarine. They were both delicious (the nectarine was from the USA! Talk about food miles) and of course I felt a million times better after eating them than I would have from eating sugar, sugar, sugar.
--
Have been more affected lately when people swear, and when I swear. It’s horrible! I am going to try and quit altogether. It’s just not becoming for a lady, or even a gentleman for that matter.
--
Have been in a good mood today (and I really think the walk helped, exercise makes your body happy) so I have been nice to everyone. Gosh it makes a difference. Nice really does make the world go around.

If you feel like you want to make September a chic month for you as well, please join me. You are welcome to share your mini-chic accomplishments for the day (or the previous day if you read in the morning) in the comments section. It would be lovely to have you along for the ride!
Dearest Fiona,
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I've missed most of them as we only landed yesterday back on this side of the ocean. The first day, getting home by 2:00 AM, was a mini-chic accomplishment. So naturally I woke up at the wrong time... feeling like having slept in, in my country of birth's time.
Will hit the mattress again and TRY for getting in the rhythm again.
Love to you,
Mariette
I did some yoga this morning, and I ran some errands on my bike, so now I feel great. I love your resolution not to swear, I'm going to join you in this one...
ReplyDeleteI don't approve of swearing either. There are so many words in the English language that can be better used to describe one's feelings than a curse word.
ReplyDeleteYour snack sounds delicious. I never go to McDonald's and didn't know that they served soft ice cream.
Enjoy the weekend Fiona!
OMG...I've been missing McDonald's...I wish there was one near when I just moved...haha...not for the food...but for the ice cream. I love how cheap it is. Sigh...they have so many gelato places...but they're like 5 times the price...I've only gone once.
ReplyDeleteYay for McDonald's ice cream....thanks to Master Bliss, we have had many a stop on road trips for a coffee and ice cream--one of his favorite treats (I only indulge about every 10th stop).
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the swearing...can't stand it and thankfully I rarely hear it. But when I do....grrrrrrr. I just got done reading a book who's author liberally used the F bomb in about the last half of the book. I was hooked on the story so I finished and tried to edit out the word as I went...tres difficile. xxBliss
good morning Fiona!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to exercise today too! Last night I packed some exercise gear and my running shoes and will be meeting my mother and my friend at the park for some post-work, post-doing nothing jogging!
I've taken to trying to substitute my sweet cravings with things like fruit and granola bars, too! cereal also works wonders for that!
Mariette, I hope you get back into your natural rhythm soon. Thank you for your comment.
ReplyDeleteBlue, yoga and cycling sound fabulous. I swore a few times today and now that I am consciously trying to not, I notice it all the more. I will continue trying though.
Hostess, I agree, swearing is unintelligent. I couldn't even imagine you in McDonalds!
Ani, gelato is the same here, $5-6 dollars for a cone. Yes, it's nicer, but it's still sugary icecream, it's hardly truffles!
Bliss, in print would be even worse. In the 90s I used to quite like McDonalds filter coffee. I wonder if it's still the same?
Lenna, good morning! Preparation is key to doing something I find. Thank you for your sweet craving suggestions!
I am determined to get more creative with my ice cream flavors this summer, and this ones a good start! Amazing that it doesn't contain eggs, so I'm anxious to compare the difference.
