Earthquake

Please keep New Zealand in your thoughts and prayers. A massive earthquake hit the Christchurch region today. There have been many aftershocks and earthquakes since the first big one in September last year but this is the most dreadful yet. Sadly people have lost their lives and the damage seems to be far worse.

Thank you so much to readers who emailed to see if I was ok. I live in the North Island so am not near the earthquake area. As far as I know, family I have down there are not hurt. Many others aren't so lucky though and it is heartbreaking to think of the lives of many that have been ripped apart, again, today.

It changes ones view from insular to global very quickly.

  5. Thinking of all our Kiwi friends across the Tasman. May you find the strength to help and support each other during this tragic time.

What is going on with the world anyway. Is it 'its' way of saying stop!, slow down! be gentle! think about how you are living your lives....

  7. I'm thankful that you're OK - and all those suffering in New Zealand are in my prayers this morning.

Certainly a time for all of us to move from "insular" to "global" and from global to "ETERNAL"!

  17. Thanks for letting us know. I'm so relieved to hear that you and your family are safe and well. What a terrible time you've had "down under". Floods and cyclones in Australia and earthquakes in New Zealand.

It's enough to make you wonder sometimes if Mother Nature is starting to fight back.

Saying a quiet prayer for those in Christchurch.

  18. New Zealand is one of my favorite places to vacation; I was sickened when I saw the damage and heard about all the poor people who lost their lives or have been injured. I'm a native Californian and grew up with earthquakes; my thoughts and prayers are with those on the South Island and their families. Christchurch is such a charming little city; this is heartbreaking indeed.
